This Philippine adaptation of the Korean film "Sunny" (Sseoni) follows a woman's quest to reunite with her high school friends.
It is the best local film since after the filmfest. Sunny may yet be the film to bring sunshine to Philippine movies.
โHindi lumubog ang pelikulang ito dahil angat ang kanilang mensahe tungkol sa pagkakaibigan. Ang sinag nito ay tagos sa puso at isipan. (3.9/5)
โThough its narrative choices may be questionable at times, Sunny is elevated by great casting and acting that will surely transport audiences back to their childhood barkada days. (A-)
โDefinitely one of, if not the best barkada film this year! I loved the story. It's a Philippine adaptation and yet they made sure na magiging patok ang pelikula na ito sa ating mga Pinoy. (Maganda)
โOverall, its a Super Nice movie about friendship, magdala ng tissue or bimpo plus water pag manunuod! (4/5)
โThe stars, especially Peralejo and Binene, were effusively energetic, but there was nothing really new. Writer Mel Mendoza-del Rosario and director Jalz Zarate could have trimmed off some excess fat [...]. (6/10)
โDespite being an adaptation, the movie's strengths are distinctly displayed through its comedic and heartfelt scenes. Hindi mahirap maka-connect sa barkada movie na ito. (5.8/10)
โ[...] performances can only do so much in a film that struggles to juggle its characters and bring its message home. (2.5/5)
โA vastly inferior remake of the original, and not even close to the top tier among the five remakes of Sunny that I've seen. (2.5/5)
