Based on real-life events, a brilliant but rebellious teen moves to a "cursed" public school section, befriending misfits and striving for graduation.
An earnest, at times cheesy, but nevertheless engrossing high school throwback movie that stays with you long after the credits roll. (4/5)
βBoys at the Back is itself a misfit as far as movies go: the film is obviously shot on a shoestring budget [...]. Despite that, there's something endearing in that scrappiness and the movie as a whole works because of it. (3.5/5)
βIt gets corny, but the movie isn't overly conscious about it. It just seems to accept that parts of this story call for a certain level of corniness, and goes all in on it. And that's really worth something. (3/5)
βThe nostalgia is there, the message of friendship and reaching for your dreams is there. But it fell short on how the storytelling connects to the audience. Boys at The Back manages to present the film's message visually but not so much emotionally. (3/5)
βIn all fairnes sa mga nagsipag ganap mahusay! May kanya kanyang shining moment ang mga karakter! Noel Comia Jr is a promising dramatic actor, Nicole Omillo shines here! Its my first time [...] watching Nicole Omillo and I'm impressed! (3/5)
βOne of the more remarkable awards Boys won was Best Story and Screenplay award for director, writer and star Raynier Brizuela. However, I felt that this screenplay just presented a lot of open threads, but none of them really had closure at the very end. (5/10)
βNoel Comia Jr. was good. Raynier Brizuelaβs acting felt natural. Most of the cast members were not believable. Some characters are important and pivotal to the story, but their scenes tell otherwise. The ending couldβve been emotional, but everything before the ending caused nuisance. (-0.38/5)
βA sentimental film that commemorates friendship, college life, and important milestones. But it is also a movie that has a weak plot that stretches for almost two hours and a script that isn't engaging. (3.5/10)
