Rewind

"Rewind" is a must-watch film, especially during the holiday season. Its poignant exploration of time, coupled with strong performances, thoughtful symbolism, and meticulous filmmaking, make it a standout entry in the Metro Manila Film Festival.

Rewind, if taken from the vantage point of faith, is a well-meaning sermon. What makes God truly God is His capacity to reward people, even the most damaged and imperfect, with a second chance.

It’s a very simple story but the beauty of the film was in how everything was tied together in the end. It’s a masterclass of using Chekhov’s gun to show–not tell–how the story is going.

Rewind will make you cry, think, and reflect. Hindi pwedeng hindi ka maiyak. Hindi pwedeng hindi ka maantig. An interesting romance drama worth remembering for its sincerity. 8.4/10

Rewind is a combination of romantic, heartbreaking, touching, sad, sincere, sentimental, feel-good, emotional, and thought-provoking films intended to move its viewers in their most unexpected ways. 8/10

Rewind is a film that brings back the classic family story in the tradition of Tanging Yaman, Mano Po and up to Family Matters.

We can say all we want about how flawed and formulaic the film may be, but we can all agree that this romantic drama is a pretty damn good tearjerker... 4/5

Rewind may have been left out in the cold in the filmfest race, but it is the one movie that has won the hearts of many Filipinos.

Hindi na bago ang konspeto ng "turn back the time" stories but what made this movie extra special is the solid acting from DongYan, they both delivered an impressive acting job here! (4/5)

Masarap panuorin ang mga sandaling sila ay naging masaya. Gusto mo itong balik-balikan. Duon mo nararamdaman kung paano sila bilang mag-asawa. 2.2/5

The fact that Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera were a real-life married couple made their onscreen love and chemistry effortless. [...] It was their affecting performances that gave this film its special radiance beyond its familiar plot. 7/10

What Rewind managed to do was bank on overflowing chemistry between their two leads and essentially put them in a story that they both can tap into. Something worth noting is that it would have been exponentially better if there was another “run” in the loop. (3.5/5)

It doesn't really shake things up with a story that's relatable but too dramatic for our taste. At its core, though, it's a film that has a deeper message beyond its pre-destined emotions. (3.5/5)

Masyadong pamilyar yung concept ng Rewind, I think parang ganito na yung mga treatment na napanood ko sa mga teleserye ng ABS-CBN noon [...]. Pero dahil sa mahuhusay ang mga artista dito, they made the watch worthwhile. (Maganda Kung...)

The melodramatic aspects of the film worked for me, mostly thanks to the chemistry between real life husband and wife Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, and there were moments in this film where I felt legitimately emotional. 3/5

The filmmaking in ‘Rewind’ is meant to highlight the pure star power of its lead actors and thankfully, Dantes and Rivera are more than enough to carry this movie by the sheer power of their performances.

Fantastic acting turns from Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera and Pepe Herrera can't quite elevate this film from being just a good facsimile of great existing work. (B)
